My Body

I have great respect for my body.

It is a tough beast.

Perhaps not visually, it can come across soft and squidgy,

but it does so much.

It allows me,

  • to get around; my legs
  • to do things, to create; my hands
  • to feel pleasure, desire; my sex

I can command a natural high – by jogging a little, to allow enhanced mental fortitude for a particularly challenging day ahead.

I’ve been alerted to dangerous situations by the hairs on my neck and arms bristling and standing to attention.

I can generate an intense spurt of energy with a black coffee, for the day I need vigour, focus, or extra hours.

I’ve tried pills – sure – fun. The pharmaceutical industry has bottled all of these chemical instructions – truly miracles. I just don’t like the side effects. I don’t like not being able to register my thirst, or not knowing when my body requires sleep.

I consider my existence, an opportunity for quiet personal mastery. I like knowing, … I like knowing – it was me.

Sure, there have been days, when my heart has been sore and hurt, letting go – and that needs a duvet, tissues and wet-wipes, and the most delicious comfort food I can get my hands on – but I’ve planned for that. The dried pasta waiting for sauce is made of mung-beans. The bread is high protein, made of seeds. There’s plenty of fruit in my house, that I can pop into the air-fryer for a decadent roasted pudding, or reach for the frozen fruit with protein powder for my version of ice-cream.

Is this all, taking ownership and responsibility for my existence?

Hell yeah!

So body of mine, today for fun, we’re going to do the following: …
