I live next door to a wetland. Sold to developers, it’s in the process of being changed – multi-ground floor units. A seasonal river used to run through it – it feeds the nature reserve downstream. I’d like to put up a sign – ” First time home-buyers, you’re being taken for a ride – don’t be idiots! There’s a mountain range alongside you! These houses are built in a 50 year flood zone! You will have rising damp! No developer ever uses the correct grids to allow for correct drainage! Beware!” Sigh!

An uncle of mine bought an existing property on a beach. There are guidelines he follows to the “T” , in order to work with nature so the beach and him can co-exist happily. Why is this not the case everywhere?
